Central Park

The community is filled with affordable housing for both individuals and families in 12 different neighborhoods.

Welcome to Central Park

The 7.5 square miles of what used to be the Stapleton International Airport now lies one of the country’s largest urban infill redevelopment projects, the community of Central Park. The area is modeled after Denver’s classic neighborhoods with a few environment-friendly updates.

The community is filled with affordable housing for both individuals and families in 12 different neighborhoods. Central Park is a buzzing town full of walking and biking paths, farmers markets, concerts in the park, and local shops and restaurants.

Although newly constructed, it didn't take long for Central Park to look and feel like the other pleasant, suburban neighborhoods so familiar in Denver. Pre-planned by designers and Denver civic leaders to be pedestrian-friendly, rather than automobile-oriented like most other planned communities creating an example of what a sustainable community or “green plan” should look successfully like.

Nearly a third of Stapleton's 4,700 acres have been set aside to be developed as public parks. Open space, recreation centers, and Central Park, the third biggest park in Denver, highlight an abundance of options for outdoor recreation seekers and provide an ideal destination for hikers. It consists of interlocking trails that link residential neighborhoods to parks, shopping centers, and the 17,000-acre Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge that is a favorite spot to view local wildlife roaming the nearby plains.
