Welcome to Highlands & LoHi
With its hilly, tree-lined streets and eclectic mix of housing, the Highland neighborhood overlooks Downtown Denver. Set up on a hill above the city, Highland residents say they have the unique feeling of living away from the city’s “hubbub” while still being a quick bike or scooter ride from the heart of Downtown.
In recent years, this thriving area has become the place to be for young urbanites wanting to own homes close to Downtown. Its popularity has meant a boom in home sales, new buildings, and the overall vibrancy of the neighborhood. Yet traditional bungalows and brick homes remain mainstays up and down each quiet street.
Sprinkled among the old Victorian-era homes and new lofts, you’ll find neighborhood churches, corner groceries, family-owned cafes, lush gardens and parks, hip independently-owned shops, art galleries, and restaurants. There’s a little bit of everything from block to block, creating the neighborhood’s old-world charm. The Highlands are characterized by a mix of old and ultra-modern architecture, some of the city’s most innovative restaurants and bars, and incredible views of the Highland Bridge and Downtown Denver.
The Lower Highlands, LoHi for short, is an area admired for its hip restaurants, renovated bungalows, and an ice cream shop in a giant milk can. A hot spot for entertainment, retail shops, and bars, it is well-known as one of the most inclusive neighborhoods in all of Denver, playing home and host to working professionals, singles, retirees, and families alike. From towering lofts, condos, and townhouses, to quaint bungalows, historic homes, and fabulous new builds, LoHi attracts an eclectic bunch, and the mix of old and ultra-modern only add to its charm. Residents love LoHi’s city center location, chock full of independent shops and boutiques. The neighborhood also boasts spectacular views of Downtown Denver.
